Blackhawks to Host Next Years Winter Classic

June 1, 2008

The Next NHL winter classic will be at Wrigley Field or Soldier Field TSN reports. Though it is not Completely conformed the game will be against the Detroit Red Wings.

This games comes on the heels of the success of the game in Buffalo featuring the Buffalo Sabers against the Pittsburgh Penguins. There were 71,217 fans at that game and since then many teams have tried to get an outdoor event. One of these teams is the New York Rangers who wanted to have a game at Yankee Stadium. Its should be noted that nothing is final yet but it looks like this is the way it will go.

Detroit wins game 4 - Take 3-1 Series lead

June 1, 2008

The Detroit Red Wings have all but put away this Stanley Cup series. The Penguins went up 1-0 early with a goal by Marian Hossa but the Red Wings came back into the game with 2 unanswered goals. Hossa’s came of the power-play when he put in a rebound. The Red wings then started their come-back when Nicklas Lidstrom. The Red Wings then broke the tie when Brad Stuart batted the puck back into the Penguins zone and Darren Helm tipped it to Jiri Hudler who then did a backhand off the post, Fleury and into the net.

The Red Wings outshot the Penguins 30-23. The Penguins came close to tying the game on a 5 on 3 for a minute and twenty six seconds but they could not score. Chirs Osgood and Marc-Andre Fleury both had good games with Osgood making 22 saves and Fleury making 28. Osgood had a .957 save percentage.

One thing that hurt the Penguins was their failure to capitalize on the power-play only going 1 for 8.

Tomas Holmstrom did not play for the Red Wings as he has a hamstring injury.

May 30, 2008

The Leafs haven’t made the playoffs in 3 years, normally coming up so close but getting knocked off at the last second. Just look at the 06-07 season they beat Montreal 6-5 in what I thought what was the most exciting game of the year. But they still didn’t make it as Wade Dubielewicz held off the New Jersey Devils to just squeak in. In 07-08 they got a goalie but they still need some more work to do to finally make the playoffs.
